Dive Tobago and experience the quality of the Caribbean
During your week with us you will be staying at Manta Lodge which is located in the North East corner of the island of Tobago. The sleepy laid back village of Speyside is primarily a sleepy fishing village. Westerners visiting speyside have said that the "locals are so laid back here they may as well be horizontal". Sound's like tranquility from the bustling UK way of life.

When are we going. Saturday 24th May - 31st May 2008

Manta Lodge is tucked into the fringe of the mountain rain forest, it has only 22 rooms and therefore offers a more personal service compared to other locations around. The hotel is small and includes a restaurant, Green Moray bar, freshwater pool and a beach.
All rooms are en suite, with balcony and sea views and a choice of ceiling fans or split-unit air conditioning, There is air conditioning in all the rooms.
There is an air conditioned bus that takes you on arrival from the Airport to Manta Lodge.
You can hire a car or a jeep to do your own tour of the island. Rain forest , bird watching and hiking trails are available when not diving.

Tobago Dive Experience is Mata Lodge's in house dive operators. They offer 3 dives a day and are very conveniently located directly by the beach at Speyside. Weather here offers year round diving as it is outside of the main Typhoon Belt. The reefs are in very good condition and with so much shelter there are some 40 dive sites in very easy reach. The inshore reefs are in pristine condition and offer some of the best dives in the Caribbean due to the fact that there is so little commercial facilities being built.

Water Conditions Temperature in Tobago ranges between 25ºC (77ºF) and 28ºC (82ºF), and more often than not sit at around 27ºC (81ºF) for most dives, unless a cold current is coming in, or you are going on a particularly deep dive. Most divers wear 2.5mm or 3mm shorties, unless you get particularly cold and the same thickness full length is sufficient. Air Temperature this time of year usually around 30ºC.

Most days diving starts around 08:30 with scheduled departures at 09:00hrs, 11:30hrs and 14:00hrs. Speyside jetty and the boats are app. 5 minutes from Manta Lodge. The run out on the boats take from 5-20 minutes depending on dive-site location. Some of the most spectacular reefs are around Goat Island and little Tobago.

What will we see? The locality offers over 600 species of fish, at least 40 different corals and are some of the most spectacular colours to be seen. You are likely to see, Eagle Rays, Stingrays, Morays, frequent Nurse Sharks, Lobsters, Turtles, Reef Sharks maybe even Manta's. Due to the currents in the area most of the dives are drift dives offering all the above possibilities. Just to note: May is known as the Manta season in Tobago.

Cost for 7 nights with 10 dives on a B&B basis is £950 per person Deposit of £250p.p required on booking.
(This price will only be available only for early bookings with us as we have a limited number of spaces at this guaranteed special rate. Later bookings WILL be charged additional flight supplements expected to be up to £150)

There is a Tobago departure Tax of approximate £9 sterling.

We will be flying with Excel who offer a 30Kg Luggage allowance. Please be advised british airports do not accept any single bag over a max of 32Kg for Manual handling safety. Flight will be from Gatwick Airport to Tobago and return. On the route out we will stop off at Grenada but will have a direct flight home from Tobago.
