All student training materials are supplied with this First Aid at Work Refresher Course.
A Two Day Certificated Training Course meets HEALTH & SAFETY(FIRST AID) REGULATIONS 1981.
Re-qualification training will cover the topics of the full FAAW (3 day) course sufficiently to ensure delegates are competent and meet The Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
Candidates must be physically able to carry out the procedures as detailed in the course outline and must attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment. All people attending a re-qualification course must provide their existing first aid qualification prior to attending this course, this must be within 3 years of last course date. This course is for candidates who have already taken a FAAW course and need to renew with a valid first aid at work (FAAW) certificate.
Areas covered by attending this course include:
Your responsibilities as a first aider, dealing with
hazards and the safety of a casualty, communicating and delegating in emergencies, CPR and resuscitation, dealing with a choking casualty inc asthma, etc. The treatment and control of bleeding, dealing with wounds, recognising and
treating shock, management of the unconscious casualty, including epilepsy and head injuries, etc.
All workplace first aiders will also be trained in the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) meeting HSE’s requirements that come into effect on 31st December 2016, as the Resuscitation Council UK guidelines now state that the management of a casualty requiring CPR is to request an AED.
Understanding first aid boxes, their contents and uses, recognising illnesses, personal hygiene when treating wounds, treatment of fractures and injuries to bones, muscles and joints, minor injury treatment, burns and scalds, treatment & care of eye injuries and irrigation, poisons, record-keeping inc RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations)
If your current 3 day certificate has expired the full three day course must be taken again. This course must be at least two full days and include the final assessments and must be take
Course fee’s for this course include student manuals and certification card on completion.
For companies and group’s, we have good group fee’s on requestn before the current First Aid at Work Certificate expires. Candidates will be assessed on both their theoretical and practical knowledge. Successful candidates will be awarded a first aid certificate that is valid for a further three years. It is strongly recommended that all candidates carry out a three hour update annually to maintain skill levels and competence with the re-qualification course being taken before the three years expire.
