Just returned from a superb week of diving in the Maldives and encountering whalesharks.
Here is just a short clip of our encounter with a Whaleshark on Maamigili Reef which is at the most southern part of the South Ari Atoll.
Here regular sighting of Whalesharks can be found on our regular trips to the Maldives. This beauty joined us at around 20 metres down during a slow drift eastwards along the reef.
This Whaleshark was medium sized at around 10 metres in length and in very good health.
To show how relaxed these beautiful creatures are, this one swam right up to me and for a while was only two metres away.
We had an excellent dive on the S.S. Pentrych on Tuesday.
The wreck was teeming with fish life.
TomPot Blennies, Pout in their hundred, Green Wrasse, Conger, Edible and Velvet swimming crabs and Lobsters. The visibility following the heavy rain was lower than normal, around 2 metres. Gary McFarlane qualified on his PADI Deep speciality completing his navigational deep skills. Mark Davey completed his Deep dive as part of the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course. Well done to both of you.
